Bad mojo

Pros

Individual contributors are smart, hard working, kind, and generous. Lots of really good people trying to do good work. Benefits are good. Salary is competitive.

Cons

Too big for its britches. Impossible to enact change. No respect for employees. Only for shareholders. Employees to not get to options or bonuses so do not have an ownership stake. Lots of promises given. Very few enacted. We keep being told to be patient, but are not shown patience in equal measure. Utter lack of understanding about how to build an inclusive culture where people feel like part of something bigger than themselves. Classic corporate attitude of growth and revenue over people. Share holders are the only thing that matters. HR's disingenuousness is palpable. Employees are leaving in growing numbers. Long-term prospects are lots of work for selfish individual career climbers, but for people who want to build a collective sense of accomplishment this place is a lost cause.

Burnout

Pros

A major company with some of the biggest clients across multiple industries.

Cons

My life at MediaMonks was a nightmare across the board. This company will churn and burn you not caring about what happens to you in the slightest. It’s the definition of a boiler room.

DO NOT DO IT

Pros

Some client teams and people are great. Junior employees are a joy to mentor. Good benefits and depending on account and time of year it can be easy to step away for errands, etc.

Cons

Leadership will gaslight you so hard you’ll struggle to tell night from day. I raised bandwidth concerns to HR and was served a disciplinary doc a week later, despite recently being promoted, high visibility, previously called an MVP, and staffed on top accounts. My salary increased by 50% once I left (finally in line with market), and leadership scrambled to backfill, staffing AD slots with SAMs. Everyone is leaving. It’s a mess and top performers are continually taken advantage of. Seriously, don’t do it. At the very least, reach out to other previous employees before joining for more POVs. It was the best decision of my career to leave.
