Create your own path at Theorem

Pros

Worth noting that this review reflects the state of Theorem ~1 year ago and some aspects may have likely changed. Working at Theorem (previously known as Citrusbyte) has been my best job to date. Prior to working at Theorem, I usually felt like one of the more/most competent designers in the “room”. That’s not meant to be a brag, it’s just a reflection of the places in which I worked. However, that was not the case at Theorem. At Theorem I was introduced to what it was like working alongside high-caliber designers (and other product folks). Design Director, Alex Z is a titan of industry and more than a boss or manager he was also a design mentor. I throughly enjoyed working with Alex and every other person I ran into at Theorem. I feel as though working at Theorem allows you to do the work you want to do. Want to work on a long-term account for a tech-giant? No, problem. Want to prototype concepts for a cutting-edge startup? Sure, do it! When I’d talk to other designers in the company it seemed like their day-to-day was often much different than mine. Ultimately, I feel like it was up to the individual and their squad to sculpt what they wanted their day(s) to look like. That being said, like with any agency, changing accounts took time and coordination. I felt most benefits were on par with the industry.

Cons

I ultimately left Theorem mostly because I discovered that I was able to get compensated more elsewhere. During my time at Theorem it wasn’t always clear how to go about receiving a raise or promotion. However, this review is based on the state of Theorem ~1 year ago. When I left it did sound like positive changes were coming to increase transparency in how compensations changes were given out.
