There is a six credit limit for adjuncts per semester and no “foot in the door” leading to a full-time professorship. Adjunct pay is low even though there is a great deal of work in addition to showing up to teach the class. I make about $15/hr for teaching and I have several advanced degrees including a PhD. Working as an adjunct can be very isolating.

They only pay $13/hr for the student workers, yet paying nearly $30/hr for temporary workers that come in who are not even familiar with the job. I understand that it is set lower for students to allow the employers to hire more student workers, however, there are very limited numbers of student workers and most people I work with are temp workers. I wish they would either lessen the number of temp workers and hire students more since thats their reason why our pay is so low, or even out the wages.
