Pros

Morgan Stanley has good brand name . It has been doing very good in Wealth management division. None of wall street 's top five are going good in trading. Wealth management is growing very fast and is very profitable.

Cons

Top management has been very stingy with pay and promotion. I have seen lot of talented people leave in last 3 years.

Pros

So initially, working at Morgan Stanley is like a dream. Great resume booster, very corporate job. It's easy to get in the door and WANT to do well to advance your career. They offer a work from home option good for snow days, or if you're sick and approved. Also, you get 4 weeks of vacation time, a week of sick time, as well as holidays. There is a structured advancement ladder, so everyone gets a chance. Compensation is competitive as well.

Cons

You have to pay for parking, no flexibility. Very hard to get a raise, some people going 2-3 years without a pay increase.

Pros

Four weeks vacation and friendly co-workers. Plenty of space available for parking and proximity to Fells Point bars and restaurants.

Cons

Managers are incompetent and are more concerned about themselves than advancing your career. Stagnant salary increases, random layoffs, and promotions are based on tenure with the firm rather than intelligence and intellectual capability. IT systems are outdated and emphasis on cost cutting has really hurt firm morale. Lots of disarray between teams in different locations which causes confusion and inefficiency. The leadership in the Baltimore office is mainly concerned with keeping costs low and making employees work very hard for minimal pay. Also, I don't understand the forced volunteerism. Most employees are forced to perform volunteer work and receive negative feedback from managers when they don't volunteer. I would only take a position here if you have absolutely nothing else on the horizon. In addition, Baltimore is extremely ghetto.
