Pros

There is no reason that any one should work with Morgan Stanley. They just need the salves who can work day and nights.

Cons

First of all I just want to tell the people who all are planning to join Morgan Stanley - Guys dont join this company if you are looking for a peaceful life. I joined in December 2020 and I left it in Feb 2020 (Exactly in 2 Months) .Its a completely unorganized organization. You will report to a person (So called your manager who dont know anything and will claim that he knows everything) and that person will treat you as a slave. Specially when you are on H1-B then NEVER join this company. They dont value the resource at all. They will expect you do everything in all the areas without any knowledge of that system/application. Also the expectation is that you will start your day at 8 AM in the morning and there is no time for the end of the day because you will need to attend the calls in the nights as well with the offshore teams. Your manager will forward you a meeting invite 12:30 AM in the night and will expect that you will join that meeting at 7 AM in the morning and if you are joining then he will misbehave.

Pros

Potential to earn a significant amount of money.

Cons

Solely Sales. Cold calling, Seminars, Social Networking solely for the intent of new business. Constantly prospecting no time to learn anything else. Teaming with senior FAs does not mean you will make it either. No support from anyone. You must make it on your own. This is a fast paced cut throat environment. You must source your own leads to high networth individuals. Even if you make it through the 3 year program this is not a guarantee that you will be a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley. Training last about 3 months is this time period you must also pass your series 7 and 66. You have 6 months to stay within your sales metrics. if you fall out and stay out of tier for too long you will be let go. Base salary decreases after one year.

Pros

You can do nothing and still get paid. Classic Office Space. I.e. work-life balance is totally "life"

Cons

I recall people being fired at the day they were expecting to hear about the bonus, the engineering culture is not even close to usuals NYC fintech. Lots of product/project managers that generate tons of emails and everyone got to read it. Some developers are pretty smart but overall I think there are so many other opportunities for software engineer that MS should be the last resort.
