Pros

At Morgan Stanley, I am surrounded by the brightest minds in the banking industry. There is a tremendous culture focused on first-rate client service, which is achieved by hiring and developing talented people that share an enthusiastic and collaborative vision and drive. Compensation is linked to personal, group, and firm performance, which encourages each person to perform at his or her highest potential. Feedback from colleagues is thoughtful, and often informal. Senior management does a great job of training junior people in the business of investment banking and of sharing strategic information about the issues and opportunities facing the group and bank.

Cons

The largest downside of working at any investment bank is the riskiness associated with employment on Wall Street. Like all investment banks, Morgan Stanley has had to lay off some of its bankers to keep costs reasonable in the face of an economic downturn.

Pros

Pay & Benefits package is very good for Financial Services industry. Working with really smart IT people provides a challenging environment from which you can learn a great deal. Global footprint makes for a 21st century multi-cultural work environment. Emphasis on excellence and achievement causes one to reach for higher goals and achieve them.

Cons

Too many hours expected; the norm was 50-60 hrs a week. Senior Management had conflicting priorities i.e, everything is top priority. Management's time horizon was too short-term. For example, tasks that were know well in advance we only delegated at the last minute, due to poor planning and time management.

Pros

Working with smart people and good manager. The managers are not just seating and managing. They're part of team - doing software development, production support etc. If I need to move my delivery date, they will understand it since they know the complexity of the project.

Cons

Long working hours and the opportunity to get promoted is tougher than other major banks
