One is able to contribute to the world by teaching and advising students. The institution is small enough the one has a chance to get to know the students.

Cons

There is a short promotion and tenure window for some. One is divided between good instruction and timely publications. Often only one task can win.

Ok place to work and study. I worked part time as a GSA. Had it's issues occasionally but what university doesn't.

Cons

Lack of communications between departments made administrative proccesses slow. Diffucult to get certain things accomplished. Professors were awesome and cared about students though.
