Pros

-Big things happen at MRA. -Great opportunities for growth and career advancement. -Daily interaction with company ownership is a huge plus. -The variety of projects we work on as well as the partners diligent efforts to bring in work are huge factors for job security and exciting opportunities to learn and develop skills in many aspects of Civil Engineering. -A team oriented environment to learn skills from others as well as working together for a common goal. -A commitment instilled by MRA of hard work and pride of our product that sets us apart from competitors. -A company that recognizes individual strengths, skills and talents and, above all, values performance. -Compensates for any overtime worked.

Cons

We have a ton of work, so the pressure can get to you. Management does a good job of recognizing the pressure though, and prioritizing the backlog so we don't burn out.

Pros

I am not micro-managed , my supervisor is fair, supportive and gives me responsibilities that challenge me. It is believed I can handle them (even when I'm unsure I can!). My pay is very good. I don't know if I'd get a higher salary if I left for another firm, but I'm not interested in doing so. I have never had a job where I felt so supported, learned so much and felt like what I did made a an impact.

Cons

Some departments work more OT than others (at least salaried people get paid OT here unlike at Bohler). Some departments are pretty high pressure because of the deadlines. management doesn't like to tell the clients no

Pros

Nice co-workers, free bagels and coffee, a lot of hands-on work

Cons

Very unorganized firm, bad training, low pay, and a terrible principal. Often questions and blames the young designers why they did things they're not supposed to. We understand that, but no need to bash your employees in front of others. Also, you should try to give some of your new hires enough time to settle down before giving them tasks that are equivalent to senior engineers. You've also got to realize people make mistakes, and you should forgive them as long as they are willing to learn from their mistakes and improve, not just giving them a hard time and an intimidating private talk.
