Not a good place to work

Pros

It is a Zillow company, which has its benefits. A trip to Seattle once a year, free lunches, snacks and good healthcare.

Cons

Everything Mortech is a joke. The leadership is bad, the product is bad, room for growth is bad, pay is bad. Management is near-sighted and there are far too many managers just collecting paychecks. The product is outdated and even though Mortech was given a huge head start it is now the laughing stock of the industry. Promotions are only given to polo wearing males that are in the "club" and the pay is horrible if you are on the outside looking in. The zuperstar awards that are given out are deserved once in every four winners. If this company was not owned by Zillow, no one would ever want to work there. It's not worth the free lunch once a week.

Thank you for your review. I’m very sorry this was your experience here. This is not representative of what we hear in our frequent employee surveys, nor the culture we want at Zillow Group. I’m not sure when you left but we’re always investing more in our manager development programs and evolving our product roadmap and leadership team. If there is any other detail you want to share about your experience, please feel free to email me directly (erin@zillowgroup.com.) The experience you describe is not one that we want anyone to have at Zillow Group, and I’d like for us to be able to look into your concerns more closely. - Erin Lantz, VP & GM, Mortgages

Growing Force in the Lincoln Tech Community

Pros

Zillow – Lincoln (Mortech, a Zillow business), is hands down the best company I have worked for, and I’ve worked at what I thought were some pretty great companies, until I came here! The Mortech (Zillow-Lincoln) office provides a fun workspace and environment that encourages collaboration among co-workers and promotes transparency and openness with management and executives. The Lincoln office is equipped with a long list of employee perks and activities to provide an outlet during the workday, including ping pong and shuffle board tables, a video game room, outdoor basketball court, candy wall, kitchens with fully stocked beverages, snacks, and Starbucks coffee machines, weekly catered lunches, treadmill desks, standing desks, FitBits for all employees, employee happy hours, events, outings, annual employee Holiday party in Seattle, and more. Although you’ll always find fun “work perks” at other Lincoln area tech and start-up companies, Zillow is able to also provide great benefits to employees that come along with working for a large well-established company. Competitive salary, 401k matching, stock options, annual merit salary increases, and very generous paid vacation, sick, and family leave time to name a few. Although Zillow is headquartered in Seattle with additional offices in NYC, San Francisco, Orange County, and Lincoln; C-Level executives make it a priority to visit remote offices often for open face-to-face conversations about what’s going on in the company, and overall company direction. The executive team is incredibly transparent so all employees know company goals, and how they individually play a part in achieving those goals.

Cons

It’s a fast growing company that sets the bar high for employee expectations. Employees are pushed to strive for excellence, which may not be for everyone. However, you can tell the company truly does care for their employees, and strives to provide a work culture that maintains happy and engaged employees.

Glad you're enjoying Z so much! We'll work to do better about career development options - we certainly have room to improve on employee training and development and I think there is more we can do to help you develop longer-term opportunities both within Lincoln and throughout Z. Thanks for the feedback! - Erin Lantz, VP Mortgages
