Pros

My honest review is that Motorola is a pretty good company. What I would say the pros are : 1. The environment is overall quite good. Team members are friendly and helpful. 2. Being able to develop features for their radio technology. The source code is huge and it can get overwhelming trying to understand everything. But from taking up issues and debugging this will make you understand the why and how things work in embedded systems. The best way to develop our skills would be developing features. Motorola emphasize a lot on clean code. And practicing this will help when you in the future. 3. There's a lot of employee engagement programs. They would organize team lunches and dinners. Also many other programs that employee can participate in. In summary, I believe there's a lot the fresh graduate can get from joining Motorola. Especially if one wants to know how most MNC software engineering department operates. From the debugging tools, how issue reporting works and many others. This company is a great start for fresh graduates. It will help in career development.

Cons

I believe all company have cons, Motorola included. The first thing that comes to mind is 1. The cafeteria food. Recently they changed the contractor and somehow it seems that the food taste a lot worse and much pricier than the previous one. 2. Fast pace environment. I believe for fresh graduates having to experience this kind of environment is good. Builds mental strength, however at times it can be mentally exhausting too, up to the point of burnt out. My advice is find something that can take off the stress after work. 3. Some people in the team can be ruthless in the way they give technical advice and can be condescending at times. 4. Too focused in innovation. Motorola takes patent seriously. Too seriously. At times it can be take away a lot of the engineers time. My advice to new hires, don't join patent. Learn and grow in the technology, after a few years then maybe just maybe join patent ideation.
