Pros

Used to be a good company led by people with the sense of engineering. Used to have the ability to win good project.

Cons

Least ethnical diversified company among its main competitors - all british white. Always promote project management type people. cut as much training budget as possible to achieve a higher profit rate. Technical and usually non-british people are normally the least valued while the talkie British project managers are usually the future star and can jump very quickly.

Pros

The role is pretty straightforward, and they provide free life assurance.

Cons

Mott MacDonald sell themselves as a employee owned firm, so you would hope that you would feel this as an employee. Unfortunately this is not so, the benefits go to the senior members of the company, and lower graded employees don't get a look in. For example, at the start of Covid compulsory pay cuts were introduced. This was a sliding scale of percentage cuts with higher grades having a slightly larger reduction. Sounds good - until you realise that the higher grades had big bonuses the month before, and the shareholding employees would still be getting their dividends. The cuts to lower grades push the lowest paid employees (of which administrators are!) into poverty, but no one seems to care. Administrators are replaceable, the company only looks after the talent. I've worked for a few firms over the years, and I've never felt as jaded or disalisioned by any as much as I have with Mott MacDonald.

Pros

-Excellent colleagues with great technical skills -Highly efficient business collaborative tools -Prioritises innovative thinking and knowledge sharing

Cons

-Senior Managers lead with an iron fist, are heartless and will say and do anything (irrespective of whether true or not) to suit their agenda irrespective of the impact on you as an individual or a team. -Communication from senior managers extremely poor and often contradictory. -Divisions are run almost entirely independently from one another -Salary lower than competitors. -Too much reliance on a small number of projects and very poor business continuity planning from senior managers.
