Pros

The people at the company are incredible. Was lucky to meet some lovely people who I have stayed connected to. Does a great job at hiring good hearted people.

Cons

Lie about quota attainment and career development within the company. Training/ onboarding had no structure. Upper management is not on lower level employees side. Was part of the layoffs because of “over hiring” despite the prior year being the most successful year financially.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! Unfortunately, like many other companies in today’s macroeconomic climate, we had to make difficult decisions to best position the company for growth in 2023 and beyond. Our changing business needs have dictated that we restructure our teams to drive the greatest efficiency as we continue to deliver the best service to our clients. We’d like to thank you for your contributions to making Movable Ink and our culture what it is today.

Pros

None that I can think of

Cons

• Small startup company. • A Serious red flag is truncated communication: managers specifically tell you not to ask your co-workers anything by chat, including making a call. • Public criticism of employees is allowed: your boss may call out your mistakes in front of everyone else as a form of public shaming or as a reflection of their own insecurities as "leaders" • Expect your co-workers to be disconnected from meetings or several times a day with no reason at all. • Do not expect a healthy work-life balance, their idea of mental health is to give you a cheap $1.99 app from the Appstore. • There is an uncontrolled time off policy, which some co-workers will abuse without management doing anything because "they’re flexible" • Leadership is poor and very inexperienced. • There is little to no employee engagement. • There is no room for making mistakes or else • Very limited opportunities for career advancement. • Upper management talks a lot about churn rate, so I guess the business outlook isn’t really that good? • They give you very basic training, and then you're on your own.

Pros

- The product is above and beyond any of the competition and will continue to grow and out perform. - The engineering and product teams are magic and clearly well managed and innovative. - Growth is happening quickly and the company will continue that way with no competitors that come even close.

Cons

- Although a lot of women work at MI, more women in upper management would be nice. There were instances where the work done by a woman was undervalued and assumptions were made that good work was done by a male equal. - A very sales driven and 'bro-y' culture. A gong is hit in the office every time a deal is closed. - A lot of perks and culture initiatives that are meant to be a value add but end up feeling forced and that more important initiatives may be lacking. It would be nice to have a 401k instead of iced coffee and beer on tap. A lot of happy hours and days out felt mandatory. - Work life balance isn't great. It's not a 9-6 job. - When you read about or talk to MI team members, they will say the best thing is the awesome people they work with. It's true! There are really great and smart people at MI; however, there also seems to be a lot of gossip, cliques and forced smiles. A lot of the culture cons are just opinions and complaints personal preferences. I think the culture would be a better fit for a younger professional who can stay later because of less home/family commitments, who may value free office perks and opportunities for happy hours and socializing after work.

Pros

Very dynamic working environment - constant change means there's never a dull moment and tons of opportunity to get involved in additional projects The company is very transparent in the values and behaviors they represent & expect I feel very supported by my colleagues and everyone is incredibly kind & intelligent. We have a culture of mutual success Upper management is readily accessible and open ideas from anyone Working at MI has definitely been the best professional experience of my life thus far!

Cons

We recently surpassed 150 employees which is a significant number for any company. We are changing rapidly and the culture isn't the same as it was when i started (at 70 employees). We're in a larger, more corporate space so the office feels less like a startup

Thank you for sharing your feedback. This is a culture of mutual success--when one of our Inkers succeeds, we all succeed--and we’re glad that you feel your colleagues support you. Yes, we are growing fast! While we made some changes (i.e., office space) to accommodate our needs, we are always striving to do our best to keep the culture strong. We are also happy to announce that we have implemented a company-wide Wellness Program offering yoga, massage, meditation and other mindfulness sessions to our amazing employees.

Pros

Good people - peers are genuine and supportive

Cons

-upper sales management have been at the company for a long time and are stuck in their ways. -lied about their reps quota attainment (very few reps are above 50% to quota) -Pricing is too high, specifically the commercial market minimum is too high relative to other competitors and prospects usage rates in this segment -The Movable Ink product is NOT a must have! The product is a nice to have, which makes selling an uphill battle -Major investments have been made in AI... commercial team is NOT allowed to sell AI and it feels like commercial is put on the back burner (makes sense as the segment is not bringing in revenue)

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Having hands on and engaged managers is part of our core values which is why we provide learning and development opportunities for all Inkers and specific curriculum focused on managers. Additionally, we strive for 80% of our reps to hit 80% of their quota; in fact, several commercial reps overachieved their quota last quarter! If you’re comfortable, we’d love to hear more from you - please reach out to peopleteamhelp@movableink.com

Pros

Like everywhere you will meet some genuine people (some not so much). Solid benefits. Solid work experience. Remote! Snacks in office. A place to give you a roof over your head and allow you to pay your bills.

Cons

Below Senior Manager level, pay is low with minimal raises. The culture is cliquey, favoring white or white-passing individuals and conventionally attractive people. Long-time employees act entitled and mistreat others without consequences. Incompetent upper management stifles growth, prioritizing travel and pay bumps for themselves over investing in the team. Only the sales team is truly valued, and career progression is uncertain. Despite management's claims, the culture isn't as inclusive as they suggest, especially for people of color. The focus is on appearances and keeping up a facade rather than producing quality products and nurturing talent.

Pros

Great product - market leader in contextual email Good office location Nice people working in London office

Cons

Micromanagement from US office Upper management in US/UK doesn't trust or support employees. Lack of cohesion within the sales team No feedback to upper management and unwillingness to listen to employees. Expectation that if it works in the US then it will work in the UK Confusing sales messaging - constantly changing - NOW with new product lines, they are stepping into a crowded environment within the personalisation space Very slow to make any change with marketing and HR - they have been looking for a partnership manager for over 12 months. Unnecessary long recruiting process. Zero support from HR - have management best interest at heart and not the employees Marketing has gone backwards

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. The employee experience is something we value greatly and are always trying to find new ways in making it a positive one for all our Inkers. We are sorry to hear that you felt there was a disconnect between the UK team and upper management. It is really important to us that our UK employees feel supported and that there is an avenue for them to share their feedback. We understand that face time is vital and therefore make an effort to fly at least one member of the executive team or senior leadership team to the UK office each month in order to ensure that they have an opportunity to meet in person and hear directly from our UK Inkers. Additionally, we fly in our UK sales team to the NY headquarters every quarter for company-wide quarterly sales updates. This offers employees the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and concerns with their peers and all levels of management, including the CEO. We truly value our UK employees and are investing heavily in the growth of that region by hiring senior employees that understand the market. However, we are also going to make sure we only hire and retain the best talent. The people at Movable Ink have made the company what it is today, and they deserve to work with the best. We are working hard to find the UK office a truly awesome and dedicated Talent Specialist that can focus solely on hiring and servicing the needs of the employees out there and help with our global expansion.
