Pros

My managers are great, and supportive, but I see a lot of people getting hired based on who they know. Some lower level managers are pretty incompetent and not much is done about it. In the corporate world they would have been fired long ago, but at the County, they are somebody's brother or sister or cousin. Great place to work for job security because you will never be fired. Personally, I like my job but I see a lot of stuff that doesn't sit right with me. If you can keep your head above the drama and stay out of the office politics it is a great place to work .

Cons

Office politics. People file grievances for no real reason. Infighting. Incompetent staff left to just float and collect a paycheck
