Top Tier Engineers

Pros

I joined Muon because there are many excellent engineers to learn from and gain mentorship. They certainly have not disappointed, there are some truly talented people here! Good systems and processes, the company is very mature for its age. Good capital management, not going crazy like other startups. That makes the business out look quite stable.

Cons

Note I don’t need to provide cons here because at a 80 person company you can just relays any complaints up to someone who can fix them.

Great Company Losing Its Edge Under New Leadership

Pros

Muon has assembled an exceptional team of highly intelligent, driven, and hardworking people. The CEO is extremely sharp, and the company is building a product with strong market demand. They’ve also secured numerous contracts, which gives confidence in the company’s long-term stability and growth potential.

Cons

Muon did an excellent job for a long time of hiring top-tier candidates, but recent leadership hires have lowered the bar. The company has shifted from carefully hiring exceptional people to hiring as quickly as possible in order to fulfill contracts, and the quality of the company and culture have strongly suffered as a result. Some of the new VPs came from old-school aerospace backgrounds, and they have brought in a heavy amount of bureaucracy and outdated thinking. That shift has caused confusion, resentment, and disarray across the company. There is also a serious nepotism problem, with new leaders bringing in friends and former coworkers and promoting them without regard for merit. Many strong employees are leaving or seriously considering leaving. I sincerely hope Muon turns things around, because it used to be a great company.
