Business Outlook
Pros
Basically you're doing really important work for women and families. And, at least in my department, my coworkers are supportive and nurturing, and sincerely want to help with my professional development. I also think it can be as successful as you want to make it. Also, for a non profit, we are very tech savvy and forward thinking.
Cons
Sometimes it can feel like your ideas are shot down not because they are bad, but because we just don't have the bandwidth to make them happen. Also the departments are constantly butting heads which makes it difficult to get work done. Lastly, they are not the best at acknowledging success through compensation or promotion - specifically among the lower ranks.
