Pros

The Jet Propulson Lab really invests in its interns and gives them meaningful projects. Many interns publish their work over the summer. The 9/80 schedule is awesome.

Cons

SInce JPL is part of NASA, a government agency, it mission can change wih each president. The is a lot of bureucracy, as with any other government agency.

Pros

Good salary Beautiful surroundings Looks good on resume

Cons

Horrible bureaucracy. Incompetent management treats PhD scientists like fools. "Safety" regulations prevent things like use of a broom or band-aid, purchase of basic laboratory chemicals. Strange, militaristic environment with bizarre punishments meted out to the disobedient. Xenophobic in the extreme. More like a cult than a business.
