Pros

Flexibility in choosing your work assignments and work schedule. Most of the management team are good, friendly people to work for and most do care about you and your family's well being as well.

Cons

Limited pay if you choose to stay technical rather than be a manager. Senior technical engineers can only reach to a GS14 level rather than in parallel with management who can reach to a GS15 or SES levels.
