Pros

Job security. Skilled workforce and good colleagues. Huge organization and lots interesting professional challenges. Workplace feels like a small interconnected community.

Cons

Unimaginative personnel management practices. Shuttle program's termination hasn't been replaced with credible follow-on mission.

Pros

Flexibility in work schedule and time off. Pay catches up with industry rates after the about 4 years. Good opportunity to do interesting work.

Cons

Commute and living conditions in local area are dismal. Bureaucracy and agency politics often trump accomplishment of research objectives. Little collaboration with rest of agency or industry.

Pros

The people working there are extremely friendly and very dedicated to their work. The geographic location is amazing, set in a rustic environment. The benefits are also excellent when compared to a similar job.

Cons

Salary isn't as competitive as similar jobs in the industry. Funding is very limited and can be a limiting factor on your research.
