Pros

Average to good pay, great if you need time off, professional environment to be part of the NBC experience as well

Cons

Little interest in hearing your take on a matter, bosses are interested in kiss-ups. You will not get ahead by simply doing your work and being polite to all. One screw up and you're out the door.

Pros

A GE owned company so the leverage of GE and it's talent pool in parent company. Interesting entertainment industry in the middle of an evolution (to digital)

Cons

Bad Sourcing senior management. All about getting the $ targets without looking for value in vendor relationships. Lack of encouragement from leaders to seek win-win solutions for the company. Pitbull mentality.

Pros

NBC Universal's market position is excellent as it is one of the leaders in the space. I worked in the digital media unit and this is an exciting area of innovation for it's web properties and new media initiatives. Hulu has proven to be a enormous success and is redefining the content distribution and ad revenue model. Another great reason to work at NBC is the level is prestige associated with this company is very appealing. And with GE as the parent company, the company distinguishes itself from other large media companies by using principles adopted by GE.

Cons

Sometimes you have to go through a lot of red tape to get simple things done at NBC. This is probably due to the sheer size of the organization. And although NBC is adopting innovative technologies for their digital properties, the way the departments are structured remains embedded in traditional media thinking. For instance the groups seem to be hierarchical, with clear divisions of seniority structured by titles, and people tend to stay within them.
