Pros

You do get a paycheck.

Cons

- This is essentially the western version of a software sweatshop - On my first day said they'd fire me because I lived further than they wanted despite me having extremely reliable transportation (better than a personal car). They were aggressive and hostile and I was simply shocked by the accusations and lack of professionalism. They changed their minds later that day and forced me to write a letter committing to moving closer or they'd fire me. It became apparent to me later that they likely were concerned I never intended to stay. This is when I learned management does not trust it's employees. Just look at their work tracking software. - Management is very proud of their software... to a fault. They refuse to use existing technology and will reinvent the wheel. They casually compare themselves to tech giants. As a result, they are doomed to stagnation in a world of increasing complexity. - The work tracking software is borderline spyware. It's a keylogger, mouse activity tracker, and takes screenshots every 5 minutes. All of this is sent to a central database (unencrypted afaik) that is just begging to be the target of hackers. Don't believe me? They sell it as a product. It's called FlexiServer. - Management doesn't care. When I was sent my 6 month performance goals, they didn't even bother to check that I was already just shy of meeting them. - Upward mobility? That doesn't exist here. You will be doing the same thing for the same people who will have the same attitude for years. - There is little to no talking except via skype and only when absolutely necessary. Not even when you are right next to each other. Everyone eats silently at their desk. You could easily work here without knowing the name of the person next to you. - Warning to those entry level, be very careful that you are not taken advantage of in every way imaginable.

Pros

I love the vacation package. Depending on how long you've been with the company, you get 4-5 weeks of PTO to be used as vacation or sick days. The time tracking software the company uses can be annoying, but it does allow a bit of a flexible work schedule depending on whether you are an early bird or prefer to start the day a little later. I like that I am able to schedule my workday around traffic. Like many small companies I've worked for, everyone wears a lot of hats. This is a plus for me, I like being able to work in several different areas of the company instead of being constrained to a small niche. If you are smart, work hard and learn to work within the company culture, there are a lot of opportunities for advancement. It really is a company that prefers to start someone at a Junior position and move them up to a Senior position as they learn and grow.

Cons

The time management system can make you feel like an hourly employee as opposed to a salaried professional. The office never closes, even if there is a blizzard outside and 3 feet of new snow. And you can't work from home. You either have to make up the time or use some of your PTO. NCH does not conduct annual reviews. This can be a pro for people who meet objectives quickly and end up getting frequent raises. For those who do not, they can go years without ever getting a raise or feedback.
