Pros

It is a pleasure to work in a organisation like NIC.Here you get so much respect at district level and also get the opportunity to serve the nation by helping it to develop e-governance.

Cons

The main cons is the salary structure of NIC. It is so low that you cannot survive in a big city.

Pros

Good company, good people. Casual, flexible work environment. Employees guinely encouraged to pursue work/personal life balance. Great benefits . . . health insurance paid for entire family, 401K, ESOP, vision. Corporate emphasis on community service.

Cons

1. Limited career growth opportunities. Unless your manager gets hit by the proverbial truck or you are willing to relocate to one of their state portals, there are just not that many directions you can go at NIC. 2. Compensation. Unless you are a director level or higher you can count on a cost of living adjustment every year and nothing more, regardless of the performance of the company or yourself personally. Very frustrating philosophy. 3. All of the company's customers are state, federal, and local government entities, so as you might imagine it is not a culture that comfortably embraces change or quick decisions.

Pros

reasonably relaxed work environment opportunity to see results and efficiencies within your state and local government fully compensated health benefits package

Cons

self-described as a software company but emphasis is on marketing and branding not software upper management and project management have little to no software expertise focus is placed on producing product rather than product quality no room for advancement unless you're in project management or management - tech side is siloed and unvervalued
