My Portal was full of outdated technology and there was no focus on making great products. It was get the work done so you can go home, or have an office party, etc. They have lots of parties and activities, which can be fun, but the work itself isn't very rewarding. There was so much software that nobody knew how all of it worked. 20+ years of technical debt weighs the company down. The company suffers from the Peter Principle where people move up into leadership and out of thier technical jobs, and thus move into positions where they aren't as qualified. Lots of office politics contribute to an environment where everyone pats each other on the back constantly wether they deserve it or not. They talk a lot about work-life balance, but think perhaps they are too far in the "life" side of this to the detriment of the work side.
