Pros

good people to work with. Can leave office by 5:00. Chillax job.

Cons

The salary options are limited. I wont say its too less but you need to ask and persist to get a raise.

Pros

Good salary for the area, relaxed work environment, ability to telecommute when needed, share option scheme, good 401k and health insurance. Promotion opportunities exist but only really if you're prepared to move State.

Cons

Training is almost non-existent. Much vaunted help with continued education simply doesn't exist. Even if you are on of the very rare people who manage to get it, the reimbursement is far from good unless you straight A everything.

Pros

Good company, good people. Casual, flexible work environment. Employees guinely encouraged to pursue work/personal life balance. Great benefits . . . health insurance paid for entire family, 401K, ESOP, vision. Corporate emphasis on community service.

Cons

1. Limited career growth opportunities. Unless your manager gets hit by the proverbial truck or you are willing to relocate to one of their state portals, there are just not that many directions you can go at NIC. 2. Compensation. Unless you are a director level or higher you can count on a cost of living adjustment every year and nothing more, regardless of the performance of the company or yourself personally. Very frustrating philosophy. 3. All of the company's customers are state, federal, and local government entities, so as you might imagine it is not a culture that comfortably embraces change or quick decisions.
