Pros

You don't have to explain what your company does to anyone. Everybody has heard of Nike.

Cons

The workplace is overrun by middle managers playing political games with each other. Bad practices continue despite poor results, because no manager wants to tell his boss something that could show that the senior management had a bad idea. Problems and failures are covered up. Conforming to plan is far more important than results.

Pros

It is an innovative company that is constantly pushing for greatness. It is an inspired place to work- lots of creative minds and amazing product.

Cons

All employees are pushed hard and encouraged to make the top priority. Weekend work and 8+ hour days are not unusual. There is a lot of ego and politics. If you are not competitive by nature it is a harsh environment. It you have kids, it would be ideal to have your spouse not work to keep balance at home (because Nike will dominate the time and energy of the employee).

Pros

I tell people that I could be doing my job anywhere, but the fact that I get to do it at Nike makes all the difference. the work culture and attention to keeping the brand experience relevant and central are second to none. There is a high amount of energy constantly flowing through the campus. This energy is coupled with a laid back atmosphere consisting of jeans and running shoes for work attire allowing for a sustainable work environment that keeps you going without burning you out too quickly. Even though there are a large amount of people working at the main campus it still feels like a small town in that you regularly see senior management walking about and still feel like you're in the thick of current Nike events and cultural milestones.

Cons

While the culture at Nike is well known for being vibrant and energetic it can be taken too far too often. the phrase "that's a great first step" is used regularly. The meaning behind it is that while you may be doing a great job there is always room for improvement. While the heart of this sentiment is genuine and productive it can breed a certain level of paranoia relating to one's self worth within the context of contribution to the company. You may never feel like you're doing well enough at your job and start to feel at risk of loosing it. With Nike's popularity, there's always someone willing to do you're job if you don't wan it or can't handle it. I have noticed several instances where the "there's always more to be done" mindset is taken too far and the work life balance that Nike advertises is thrown to one side.
