Pros

Get to be creative, think outside of the box and be on the forefront of cutting edge technology

Cons

Such a big company it's hard to get things done in a timely matter. It's also political and all about who you know

Steer clear of technology departments

Pros

Nike's an awesome brand with worldwide recognition. There's good perks, discounts and others for working there.

Cons

Technology departments that build Consumer apps are a joke. Management is a crony club that is verbally abusive to employees - very publicly. There is no recourse or mechanism to escalate these issues. Favoritism runs rampant. Work / life balance doesn't exist. You'll be expected to work 60-80 hour weeks to meet product launch schedules for ill-defined and ever changing deliverables. Nike will talk culture and values; they may exist somewhere, but not in technology.

Pros

Insurance costs are low, 401k matching is okay

Cons

You will work a lot of hours. They have no standards, processes, etc. Everything is managed by ad hoc and thus it is very hard to understand how to get things done. If you have kids, don't think you will get a lot of flexibility. Also do not trust your job is as advertised. They change plans so often you can come in for A and do B. You will not hear feedback unless it is negative. There are almost no promotional opportunities unless you relocate to Portland. That's the way they like to be. Go to Portland then leave and go elsewhere. They have what they call a matrix environment. Matrix means you will have 2 bosses and they may not talk. Truth be told, how you appear, how often you appear, etc. will be used more than accomplishments. The great work environment you hear about is for the hourly. Turnover at supervisor and above is huge. Don't believe me. Use this site, filter by memphis and full time then see the scores.
