Pros

Some good people , most have left tho

Cons

Wow ... incredulous .... and not in a good way PLease dont be suckered in joining this company. The US management all the way from top till front line managers play politics and have no clue what they are doing. Each one is interested in empire building. Everyone from front line managers to the CIO is full of their self. What can I say about Digital Operations/Cloud Engineering. The biggest waste of time and energy for any remotely talented engineer would be to join this org. You have many idea men but no good execution. I will give one thing though, all managers(front line and above , Project Managers, Scrum Masters, etc) are good at googling and getting ideas . Its not even funny that Cloud Engineering idea men want to build an in-house AWS replacement with ideas obtained by reading articles on the internet, with no thought if that idea even makes sense for the company and/or how to execute. Ah nowadays the management has started saying that they never said they wanted to make an AWS replacement in-house . Managers and above will hardly/seldom send anything of consequence in writing lest they lose their ability of plausible deniability. There are many managers both in title and wannabe managers. A lot of engineers have been hired thru internal referrals (wink-wink) who are wannabe managers. Everyone wants to have a say but no one wants to work, except the few who dont want to since the words of wisdom are nothing but junk and full of politics. Let me tell you about the so called Architecture team. Its sole function is to answer 'no' to every idea presented by the few engineer/s (who are talented enough to do the right thing ) with no real answer as to why the idea is shot down and with absolutely no alternative. The director and managers are silent and their silence is deafening. The reasons for silence in this authors opinion are some combination of fear, ego, nepotism. Two years to build out a infrastructure to support no more than a few hundred internal customers and even after spending so much time and money nothing remotely usable. There are some good engineers and each one of them is counting the minutes to be able to leave before getting rusted technically . Please do not join or if you do , do not join Digital Operations and Cloud Engineering team. Another thing these people are very much into renaming their org so if you do interview make sure they have not re-branded spoilt milk in new packaging/labelling. Oh and guess what - there is an ethics email, but some of the upper management get the ethics complaint emails too ... how convenient is that ....

Pros

I have been working for NIO for almost a year. It was a big decision for me to move from a world class renowned company to a startup, for which I don't repent. Its a great company in terms of work life balance and challenging work. The growth is phenomenal and so employees are engaged and motivated. Like any startup it goes through certain turmoil, but positivity from leaders especially Padma keeps everyone motivated. Free lunch, Free snacks, picnic, team time , NIO goodies, onsite chiropractor, gym keep employees happy at work :)

Cons

The company needs to define some program through which it operates globally and not just locally in the US or China. Operate as one NIO in every sphere of work.
