Pros

Company has been in business for many years and customers have a high opinion of their insurance products. They train people who know nothing about insurance and give them a place to start their career. Co-workers are generally good people. Salary is decent, opportunities IF you are liked by your supervisor.

Cons

Maybe you read George Orwell's book "1984" where he described "Big Brother" watching at all times? That is what NJM is all about. Very restrictive policies including the "Bring Your Own Device" (they want you to give them YOUR phone for any type of investigation they feel like conducting at any time) and "Social Media Policy" (Any opinion you may gave about the company on Facebook or Twitter, etc. can get you fired), internet access if granted is highly monitored, phone calls are recorded and in some departments are picked apart as part of your review, cameras are everywhere! I mean who wants to work in that type of environment. Also, they are on this new cost cutting initiative -- fine I can see where that makes sense -- BUT, they are remodeling the hallways in the Trenton location and installing recessed lighting with fancy walls that look like display cases and marble shelves to display things (?) Honestly, is that necessary? Wouldn't the money be better spent on giving better raises to the employees that make you successful or on training your management people to interact more appropriately with those they supervise? It's not all bad however, there is a lot that could be better and even though they say they are trying to improve, it just doesn't seem to be happening. There are a few departments I would not recommend to anyone based on what I have heard and seen: PL Call Center, Auto Claims, Switchboard and HR. You might do ok if you get a job in Workers Comp, Medical Services or IT (depending on your supervisor). Your best bet is to look elsewhere first since there are a lot of employers in the area. Do the opposite of their new slogan and “DON’T Start Your NJM” if you don't like to be micromanaged.

Pros

The workers are nice, the benefits are good and the salary is okay.

Cons

There was no room for growth, lack of or confused vision or direction and too much favoritism. Also management lacks people skills !

Pros

Provides training, starting salaries are adequate, benefits.

Cons

Speaking as a twenty something that spent time as a full time employee, I will say that NJM is not a place for young people. Frustration runs rampant among employees in many departments based on what I heard and experienced. The issue is that it's simply not a modern, forward thinking organization despite attempts to change. That's not to say NJM can't change, however, unless the mentality of those in charge changes from "let me control everything the employees do including monitoring their activities down to the minute, forcing them to work in the office, controlling exactly how the work is performed, etc." they will not be able to keep good people from flocking to other employers. This company says one thing and does another when it comes to treatment of its employees.
