Not a good place to work

Pros

Once you hit 15 years you get 27 vacation days but it’s hard to use them because once you take some time off when you come back, your work doesn’t get even if someone’s covering your desk.

Cons

Besides, the fact that every claims adjuster is extremely burned out and overworked they are now making us come back into the office three days a week. That is absolutely ridiculous. Don’t they understand employees are more productive at home. They are bringing us back because they say some people are making mistakes. Well, then make those people come back in and everyone else who’s doing their job can work from home fully remote. Three days a week in office is ridiculous on top of the insane claim workload for adjusters. And start paying your employees more. There are companies out there that pay 30% more for doing the same job. Why would I stay at NJM if I can get paid more and be fully remote at some other company and not be overworked and underpaid at NJM.

Pros

My colleagues were charming and helpful.

Cons

During my last six months, I was extremely burned out and overworked. My supervisor continuously piled more work/projects on me — projects that were NOT in my job description. No raises, bonuses, or incentives were offered. There was no real support from management; they were disorganized and lacked good team communication. For an insurance company to be that cheap and inconsiderate of their hard-working staff was ridiculous. Their bottom line mattered more than their employees which was very apparent seeing as there was a rotating door of employees. Overall, NJM was not a good working environment, 0/10, would not recommend it.

Pros

The 401k is a full 8% match. You’ll need this later on bc the pay is not in line with the rest of industry. The pension-only if you were lucky enough to be hired prior to 2015 when they stopped offering it.

Cons

A recurring theme is micromanaging. A couple departments had 3 days remote well BEFORE the pandemic. But then every eligible employee was able to do this after we returned. Well, last Friday at 2pm, our CEO announced via a video of himself that because of an increased in mistakes, everyone will be changed to 3 days IN THE OFFICE. He said they were flexible enough as a result of the pandemic and it’s time to be in office more to prevent more mistakes. Except… our dept was doing it well before the pans, and wasn’t the one making all these mistakes. (Word was going around this summer regarding the PD department). So why would they do this? They clearly don’t care about their employees. If NJM wants to start paying us more, maybe it wouldn’t sting as much. But they are notoriously lower paying than other insurance companies. So the 3 days remote helped. But it still wasn’t enough considering others are FULLY remote and pay better. It’s laughable!!!! Best part? 3 days after we were told a remote day was being taken away from us, we receive the agenda for a meeting tomorrow. They want us to come up with ideas and spread the word about NJM and how good it is, to gain more policyholders. Isn’t that rich?? But at least they’re consistent. They have always said “It’s all about the policyholder”. Don’t work here if you want to be treated like an adult.
