Pros

You will learn A LOT at NOV. It is more of a situational have-to rather than a chance to though.

Cons

Long hours. 50-70 hour weeks, even for office workers. Due to all of the layoffs everyone is short-handed which means most positions are handling the responsibilities of three positions. Burn-out is common. The higher-ups would rather spend $2 million on a new Service Center office, than hire more employees for the SC or even give the employees raises. 401k match is gone, bonuses for salary is gone, and if you ever get put on an on call list, you will get called 2-5 times per night, some of which can last for hours.

Pros

When the market was good life was great. When times were bad it seemed to be an absolute free fall. Great place to start a career, but I would suggest to move on after 3-5 years.

Cons

Typical O&G market cycles. Overspending during the good times which doesn't bode well during down turns. Salary is not competitive with their competitors and even further off with the general market.
