Pros

When business is good, working here is good. Friendly coworkers, very good benefits, competitive 401(k) matching, and a real feel of being appreciated.

Cons

When business is bad, working here is *really* bad. Every day feels like it could be your last (until it actually is), unnecessary corners are cut to appease stockholders, and, once the dust settles, instead of qualified, promising employees being promoted to open management positions, existing management's buddies get them. Then, they pretend to be bewildered when business continues to be bad. Business has been bad for the better part of the past five years.

Pros

Learn about the industry and equipment Knowledgeable coworkers Work/ life balance Benefits are good

Cons

Low pay. No bonus, no raises are guaranteed each year. Promotions and more work is offered without compensation. When you ask to be paid for what you do, you are told that raises are frozen. Layoffs happen during downturns. Management is untrustworthy and greedy, they do not particularly care for the direct reports only numbers and how much work they can squeeze out of you. Some coworkers are toxic and manipulative and are actually the ones who ruin people's livelihoods during downturns. Some managers have NO business being a manager, they are absolutely incompetent at everything, and lack people skills. The only thing they do well is hire their unqualified friends that kiss up. This satisfies their egos. Tenured coworkers think they know everything and actually prevent new people from learning in order to protect themselves. The tenured ones are also the most toxic ones. They will backstab and know how to play the game. This is a dog eat dog environment. You better get in line, the tenured ones dont want to lose their cash cow.

Pros

Not many.. Before I left there was a great opportunity made available for young adults graduating college whom had the ability to travel to different NOV facilities nationally and globally. A great training program for those individuals who were qualified which lead to those individuals being placed into good position within the company. Too bad there was nothing offered to employees who had already obtained degrees and stuck in positions leading to no where.

Cons

The environment was stressful most of the time. Opportunities for advancement are very limited unless you knew someone in a executive position especially for women and even more so if you were black.
