Not too good, not too bad

Pros

Salary and Benefits are good.

Cons

In the last few years, NXP has refused to hire new people in Chandler or even replace the people they lose. As as result, workload has increased. You spend a lot of time helping overseas production teams. Get used to have meetings very late to train your south east asian replacement.

Pros

Lots of smart people and there is camaraderie within teams. Great customer alliances with some exciting products in the works. Huge potential under right leadership Decent benefits (medical dental, 401K matching, etc.)

Cons

Major politics. Layoffs happen often - usually just a handful of people at a time so they can stay under the radar outside the company. There's definitely an "in" crowd at the executive level, but there isn't a lot of loyalty. Money drives EVERYTHING and there's a lot of inconsistencies. For example, an executive will take a whole senior management team for a luxurious one week offsite costing tens of thousands without blinking. However, if an expense report is off by $5.00 be prepared to explain ad-nauseam. There is still the "NXP" and "Freescale" division among people (the two companies merged in 2015) and both sides resent the other's way of doing things. Technically, the headquarters are in Austin, but Eindhoven still calls the shots. Even though management says "We're all one NXP", it's not seen throughout the company. Many things like payroll checks, medical insurance cards still say Freescale even five years later. Never count on getting the annual profit-sharing. More often than not it's reduced or just not given because it wasn't "fully funded". However, the execs will get all their bonuses either way. Finally, employees are evaluated using a 1-5 scale where 5 is the best. There are only a certain number of "5" employees permitted and managers pretty much have to have some employees at a "1" or "2". Most employees, no matter how stellar, will be at a "3". Because of this system, employees start to lose their job excitement and satisfaction.
