Pros

They offer competitive salaries, flexible workshifts, and opportunities for advancement

Cons

Sometimes the workload is overwhelming especially if you are the individual in that position for the entire department. Sometimes you are asked to do things that is not in your job description.

NYU: Good place for science, but no respect for postdocs

Pros

The ability to collaborate and advance your scientific career is fantastic here, because there are world class researchers everywhere.

Cons

NYU consistently takes postdocs for granted. The housing office is abysmal, despite the fact that this is a very rich university that could afford to treat postdocs well and help them out with housing. Other New York area research institutions do a much better job of this. The Rockefeller is one example.
