Pros

- Great Culture - Really great people (Seriously everyone is so nice but not like "fake" nice) - Lots of Room to Grow and LOTS of opportunities to promote if you stay here long enough

Cons

The new business department has a strict 2-year minimum policy to move departments so while there are lots of opportunities it may take a minimum of 2 years to actually move around - Pay is OK. 47k isnt anything crazy. - It took about 6ish months until I finally got a clear understanding of how I am doing

Pros

The Co-workers and PTO time.

Cons

Management are mostly hired from other companies and come in with little to no idea how teams run. Employees are given unrealistic “goals” and if you are senior staff members who helps your team regularly throughout the day it is not taken into account. They speak a lot of culture but it’s all lip service. They want and promote people who cheerlead and pay no mind to people who have legitimate concerns. Don’t bother going to HR for any resolution for anything because they only look out for upper management and the direct managers. When remote was allowed, the all employee meetings regularly had not just the CEO but also members of the HR team who made snide comments about remote employees. They preached about work life balance but if you work a straight 40 hours it is not enough and you don’t hit your quota so they can use it against you. Unless you are management or HR or some other other department other than New Business don’t expect anything more than a 3% raise each year and that is only if you exceed expectations. You might get an okay bonus at raise time but taxes taken out make it almost not worth it. They try and make act like the once a year raise/bonus is enough to live on but if you live in VT you probably have at least 1 other job. For 15 years I had 2 jobs just to get by. You also get one other “gift” at the beginning of the year and it is usually something worth right around $100 and then act like they help solve world hunger.

Pros

Lots of resources and attention are being put into marketing and branding.

Cons

Actuaries are not valued - very obviously, as the CEO jokes about actuaries habitually, e.g., at three out of four of the most recent townhalls.

Not only are actuaries valued, their contributions are critical to our business! We appreciate all our actuarial team is doing to help us grow with purpose.
