Pros

National Life Group is growing and expanding. It's a great company to be apart of. I personally believe in our mission to keep our promises and be the best provider for middle America. Marketing has been a great place for me to learn, grow, and influence the Marketing direction of the company. I enjoy my role and my contributions are appreciated.

Cons

None at this current time.

Stay away, toxic leadership

Business Outlook

Pros

— Lots of good lower-level managers — Colleagues at the lower to mid levels are very supportive — Decent benefits and a relatively stable company

Cons

— VP of Marketing is toxic, never apologizes for being wrong and never owns mistakes. It is ALWAYS someone else's fault. And when it is your "fault," you will be yelled at and demeaned in front of your colleagues. — Culture of fear is increasingly dominant. People do not give honest feedback because too many people have been burned for being honest. — Micromanagement is increasingly consuming the marketing department. Subject matter experts and middle managers are not trusted or empowered. — You will be promised work flexibility, but you will not get it. — Bureaucracy and office politics run the show here, entrepreneurship is encouraged but people who are proactive get burned. — The National Life Group home office is not a safe place for women or people of color. Commitment to diversity and culture is only lip service. Senior leadership is overwhelmingly white and male. Women and POC do not last long in senior roles unless they tell current leadership what they want to hear.
