      Pros

      Great environment to work in. Working at the National Park Service has been an enjoyable experience. Employees are passionate about what they do. Great people to work with and for.

      Cons

      With the National Park Service being a government agency, the workplace can be more strict that other companies. It can be difficult to get a foot in the door with the regulations regarding the hiring process and who you have to compete with.

      Employment practices are unfair, promises concerning employment are repeatedly broken (for myself and many others), either management does not understand HR policies or the policies keep changing. The majority of jobs are temporary, and will not be extended, despite promises to the contrary. They will cut lose good workers who are already trained, promise to rehire in 6 months, change the rules, and hire new employees. Veteran's preference figures strongly.
