Pros

You work in beautiful places with some people that are truly skilled and care for the environment and culture of the park.

Cons

Management at the upper levels is really out of touch. Hiring practices in the Federal Government really suck and in the NPS' attempts to fix them in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division they have only made them worse. They have stopped hiring good Rangers and only hire people that would rather be police for VRP Rangers. This means the people hired are not happy with their job and want to change the job into something (like a police department) it is not and something the rest of the public has already lost respect in, instead of returning to a role that the public actually trusted run by people that actually want to do the job.
