Pros

The industries and clients we work in and with are some of the most exciting around. Movies, TV, Video Games, Toys, Tech and more are our specialty -- and the company is passionate about what we do. It is a very collaborative environment and everyone has a forum to be heard. Good ideas are run with, while those deemed not quite ready are finessed and developed until they are. The hierarchy is very defined but not inaccessible. Our CEO and senior management have open doors and ready to answer questions, give advice and offer feedback. The review process is solid -- as an employee you know where you stand -- and if it is not where you want to be, you can get action steps on how to get there. NRG also has a wide variety of people and an even wider variety of work backgrounds which makes for a very interesting work environment. The company values quality work and has a feedback process that gets to quality work in a constructive way. It is a company that has been around for more than 40 years -- and while many of the offerings are iconic -- the company does not rest on its laurels, continually examining and re-inventing to stay current and competitive. Some long time employees don't like change, but the only way this company can grow is to keep up with our consumers and our clients! There are so many opportunities here and the breadth of the work is so wide - -that anyone who loves entertainment, popular culture or technology will find something to get passionate about here. I have been at NRG for close to 10 years, and I have never been more excited about the future (both for NRG and the clients we work with) than right now. They actively seek out and promote female executives and minorities because they seem to understand that in the industries we work in -- having all opinions and input makes for the best work.

Cons

We work with clients on very tight deadlines and sometimes this requires an extra push. Our work does not come in on a regular cadence so sometimes individuals maybe juggling multiple projects, while other times they may be sharing a single one. Lately there are so many extracurricular activities it is hard to keep up! Kickball, Trivia, Happy Hours, Habitat for Humanity, Movie Night, etc -- you can't be everywhere at once! There have been growing pains some employees that had been here a long time were afraid of change and did not want to try new things, others come in thinking they want autonomy and fast pace -- but they really don't -- some people just to make widgets day in and day out.

Pros

Aside from the exposure to great clients the only other good reason to work here is the healthcare.

Cons

If you didn’t come from the CEO’s old company then don’t expect to be successful here. The company shows extreme favoritism to those from PSB, and everyone is extremely cliquey and unwelcoming to new members of the company. They are set in their ways and feel their way is the only way to do research. The leadership is basically non-existent. If you are looking for a company that has managers and not leaders then this might be the right fit for you.

Pros

Opportunity to conduct research on behalf of the biggest brands in entertainment. Work with intelligent, passionate co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Fun, vibrant culture with happy hours, sports teams, and volunteering opportunities. Lots of office dogs!

Cons

Lunch options are still lacking (but a few are opening soon). Traffic in the area isn't great.
