Pros

Benefits are wonderful, lots of vacation and paid holidays, get to attend the restaurant show every year. opportunity to move up if you are liked by your manager and play suck up

Cons

Chicago office was often forgotten about by leadership in DC, too many individuals who have worked there forever and have lost perspective with current business climate

Thank you for sharing your point of view. Even though we're a relatively small organization (~250 team members), we do face the challenge of having multiple locations, as do many businesses. According to our 2014 and 2015 employee engagement surveys, our team members rated our association - as a great place to work - above the norm for world-class companies. Chicago-based team members rated us even more highly than they have in the past. In the past year, we've also upgraded our office environment in Chicago and will continue to look for further opportunities to create positive work experiences across our organization. We will continue to work to get better.

Government Affairs Management & Staff is a train-wreck!

Pros

Good benefits and a nice office.

Cons

I have been employed with the Association for about 4-years now. Our employee turnover has progressively been getting worse for some time now. The government affairs staff has been mis-managed for the duration of my tenure and constantly promotes/hires inexperienced individuals in their team. An executive assistant was promoted to be a lobbyist, the VP of government affairs was great at her job but horrible with managing her team, and their atmosphere is plagued with back-stabbing and rumors. Half the team is regularly out throughout the week which is not a good visual for the rest of the staff. After recent internal scandal, the team has been split and is now managed by someone that is also unqualified. The CEO is constantly at odds with at least one of her direct reports which creates an atmosphere of distrust.

Pros

Great people, overall. Benefits are very good. The new office is very nice. Certain select departments possess great opportunities and great managers.

Cons

When they say a few bad apples spoils the bunch, this would be a good example of that. For the most part the company tries, but hey are very very cheap on salary and raises just dont appears to happen.
