Pros

Salary. Technicians and sales staff can be helpful in delegating tasks. Equipment and office supplies are provided and in most offices equipment are well maintained.

Cons

Even with equal number of years of experience female optometrists are paid less than male optometrists. Pay and bonus based upon number of patients seen per day. Brief patient care time means more bonus dollars. Requests for vacation can be denied and requesting days off requires weeks in advance notice. Paid annual CE is adequate however the food included is mediocre buffet or sandwiches with one special dinner night (chicken or steak) with the 600 K salaried CEO, CFO, and several VPs.

Pros

40 hour work week; headquarters is located in the suburbs, so less traffic; occassional company/community events.

Cons

Lack of diversity in senior and executive leadership, as well as the board of directors. Lack of credentials in HR leadership. Misuse of power by HR projects and compliance directorship. Lack of diversity amongst HR leadership.

Pros

Free eyeglasses every year, most of the patients are great.

Cons

Never enough staff, Management motivation via threats of termination, lack of training, associates overwhelmed, some patients are rewarded for their bad behavior by complaining to corporate (they get free stuff even if they are the ones in the wrong), non-licensed associates are dispensing glasses and contacts without the ability to answer questions or instruct the patients on how to use them. Not enough staff to process daily shipments of glasses and contacts (match them up with orders and then call the patients) which causes the phones to ring incessantly with angry people who want their stuff. Sometimes there are more lines ringing than there are associates + the place is full of people coming in for their appointments + ten people are coming in to pick up their glasses = chaos!
