Pros

Great benefits - vacation 15 d to start, 401k, 7.75hrs/ day

Cons

Red tape. Decisions flow mostly one way- from management down. The average employees then live with consequences. They have a yearly engagement survey that seems to improve by firing people who think differently. Co-operation between headquarters and locations is low.

Pros

Nationwide offers a lot of opportunity for people who are enterprising and willing to expand their skills. Great benefits, salary seemed fair, and there was plenty of opportunity to pursue training and education.

Cons

There was a well established and entrenched management hierarchy which tended to limit both upward mobility and creativity. Because it was in the process of improving how it ran, political games were rampant because every manager was trying to jockey for lead position. I was there for 5 years and it seemed to constantly be in process improvement mode - which was fine with me but the employees with long tenures (10+ years) seemed to be very bitter about the changes being made.

Pros

The pay and benefits were good but not great. Better benefits at other companies, health care costs doubled every year. employees worked together.

Cons

Management not trained properly to deal with manager-employee work relationships. Secret alliance present the trained and qualified passed up for promotion while the favored less qualified received the promotions. layoffs continue. understaffed and overworked. more claims assigned then a person can handle. Not enough recognition given to employees. In the 5 years i was employed with the company the changes made it worst.
