Pros

Great place to start back in the day. Nationwide will train you, but they will bury you in work as well.

Cons

If you want to get laid off, then this is your place to be. If not...stay away! It's a sinking ship!!

Pros

The people that work there are the finest people I've ever met. I felt respected and valued during my employment at Nationwide. I wish I could work in the Product office in Columbus.

Cons

Downsizing, awkward change management and a disjointed strategy. Allied management style has infected the Nationwide culture, which may be a good thing long-term but that which made Nationwide a special place to work has been discarded. Now it's just another insurance company and people are becoming bitter and resigned. They're definitely a self-proclaimed "fast follower" and are lowering expenses and raising rates.

Pros

+Immediate co-workers are, for the most part, great. +Decent facilities at the home office, for many things needed during your daily activities. +They give you a paycheck.

Cons

-Poor management at all levels. -Promotions are based on everything but performance and ability. -Cronyism runs rampant. -Pay scales are a joke. -The leadership does not care about the people that actually get the job done. -Advanced degrees are used against you for promotions. -Work/life balance is only achieved if you have 0% life and 100% work. -You rarely have the tools needed to do your job. -Offering opinions for positive changes immediately gets you labeled as a troublemaker. -Everything is political.
