Mostly good but going downhill

Pros

Decent pay and good benefits

Cons

Seemed to gradually be becoming more strict and treating employees more like a number. Also they had a whiteboard where they put everyone's stats up to humiliate the lowest ones into doing better, which is something that generally just adds stress.

Stay away if you can

Pros

WFH. That’s the biggest and only benefit.

Cons

You will never feel more like you are on an island alone than in this role. I’ve worked in both commercial processing and the service center with Nationwide, I can say underwriting is so much worse. Look elsewhere if you can. Pay is NOT competitive. The training is basically non-existent, even though it’s 5 months (they tell you it’s 6-9 months, it’s 5 months and last month is you on the floor). I cannot adequately explain how unprepared you will feel on your first real day. Mangers don’t care though. It’s quantity over quality here, folks. If anyone tells you different their eyes aren’t open. Also it’s like 1/4 customer service on the phones. They don’t even show you how to use the phone before your first day taking calls. It’s bad, I wish I would have never taken this role.
