Pros

- They'll never fire you so feel free to not put in any effort

Cons

- Coworkers that have been there for too long are typically complacent and pretty lazy - Severely underpaid - Constantly behind the curve on technology - Mid-level management is typically a case of failing upwards - Very rarely promotes from within - The way to get raises or promotions is to leave and come back

Pros

Teams were well-organized and plenty of people to learn and grow from.

Cons

Very rigid in terms of actual dev work; not much room for creativity, even though it was encouraged in department meetings. Getting new libraries and tooling approved is a whole ordeal in itself. Total compensation was was well below market; the joke was that you had to leave Nationwide to get a better salary than any advancement opportunity can provide.
