Very little opportunity for actual development. You'll create nothing new, no new ideas. You just keep your head down and do the same work in the same way as it has been for years.

Cons

Most people love using the term 'oversight' to allow them to stop work and not be responsible to help get it back on track. Heavy reliability on Engineering Department to do anything. Production shops are supposed to have trained Journeymen and Masters but most are too afraid to apply their knowledge. While career growth is black and white on all the corporate documentation, often people are held back without good explanation or reason. Causes high turn-around rate.
