Pros

Meet people from all over the world. Get to work with many different personalities and most from states and countries you've never been to. Treated fair by employer.

Cons

Not much pay. Benefits are mediocre

Pros

What we do here everyday is for a good cause! The military families are under even more pressure and there is no sign of it getting any better. We deliver an important non-pay benefit - Goods and Services at a savings! Everything we do should have the military member and his/her family in mind.

Cons

Being part of the Government / Military (Navy), there are rules and instructions that a commercial business would not be subject to. This is largely a minor inconvenience and has its place. Lower salaries (Government) but better benefits, including a defined benefit pension plan, which is rare in retail.

Pros

Great benefits Dedicated employees Good managers I really enjoy the Navy Exchange as a whole. Serving those who serve us is a nice way of giving back to them.

Cons

Compensation is not great. Compared to similar companies, you don't make much. You have the opportunity to make more with KIN sales, but it's mostly your base pay that will be on your paycheck. There's also a lot of politics involved when it comes to promotions and advancing. They tend to put off things like hiring managers or supervisors and just letting that position sit open for 2-4 months on a regular basis.
