Pros

The positive side to working for Neiman Marcus was the exposure to the fashion world. Salvage and sample sales are the best as you get designer name brands for very low prices.

Cons

No work life balance. Very little recognition for extra effort. Atmosphere was extremely stuck up and there was very little room for growth and development. Buyers took long lunch breaks and upper management did not have any respect for lower level coordinators or assistant buyers.

Pros

Commission at Neiman's can range from 6% in contemporary clothing 8% in handbags and furs and 10% in shoes and cosmetics. You have a possiblity of selling anywhere from $3,000 to 15,000 per day earning you a very healthy commission. The medical benefits are great as well as vacation time earned. They also have a pretty pension plan.

Cons

The down fall of working at Neiman is if anything is returned to the store, you have to paid the commission earned back. So, the more you sell, the more returns you will have. For example, if you sold $40,000 in a week, and your commission was 10%, then your earnings for the week will be $4,000 for week. So, the following week you had about $17,000 in returns, then you owe the store back $1,700. As you sell during that week of returns, the deficit is deducted from those sell.

Pros

I was able to work from home, which sounds good, but you're so easily overlooked and almost don't exist unless a customer says you were disrespectful or mean to them.

Cons

Worst management, they do not care about you as a person or as an employee, they go weeks without ever speaking to you unless you somehow make a mistake then you'll definitely hear about that immediatey, customer treat you like complete dirt and yell and cuss and say terrible things, and scheduling gives you the absolute worst hours, even if you're in school.
