Pros

Amazing Staff....even a more amazing clientele. Neiman Marcus has a great deal of empathy, compassion, and affability with it's employees and makes all efforts to communicate with you regarding any and all discrepancies that may occur while working there.

Cons

Sometimes there are long days where the hours are the same but an 8 hour shift feels like a 15 hour shift. Really, what drives the time is the volume of clients present, and if no one is present (except browsers), than the hours feel much more elongated, especially when your pay is more or less dependent upon your commission.

Pros

-They offer a pretty good employee discount -On top of the regular discount they have times where they have promotions when you double on discounts -Luxury Brand Recognition

Cons

-People on commission can become very desperate -In some departments the associates end up owing the company money because that's how many returns the store gets, many times they take anything back even when worn or damaged -It is very sad to see people work over 80 hrs in a pay period and still owe the company money out of their paycheck due to the amount of returns that outweigh sales -Many managers do not want to do their job, and spend most of their day talking to their colleagues -The location where I worked at the department manager was extremely rude to her associates and the customers, which is ultimately why I left -When I was hired I was told many things that were encouraging, but once I started it was a totally different story, I saw a very BAD side to NM that was very shocking -Benefits are not good either anymore (they were recently changed) & leave A LOT to be desired -Even though many would assume different based on their so-called image, there are MUCH better retailers to work for

Pros

The associate discount is great. At Neiman Marcus you will learn to put out fires quickly and to become very resourceful. The vacation time is increased after two years. It's a great place to learn luxury retail with a focus on Customer satisfaction.

Cons

The working environment is horrible. It seems that there are a select few that are picked to succeed based on who they know regardless of their work ethic or productivity. Mid-management is clueless and doesn't help employees further their careers. The pay is horrible! Neiman Marcus pays well below industry standard, which is why most employees end up leaving to work for other retailers based out of DFW.
