Pros

The quality of the product; The Neo4j graph database, suite, or platform (come on now please decide) is intuitive and powerful, making it a valuable tool for any organization looking to harness the power of connected data. Beyond the excellent product, what stands out about Neo4j is the people. The team at Neo4j is PRIMARILY composed of intelligent, friendly, and helpful individuals who are always willing to go the extra mile to assist their customers. Additionally, Neo4j offers competitive pay, which is always a plus.

Cons

It's essential to recognize that every company is flawed, and there will always be areas for improvement. With that said, I have strong concerns about the inner workings of Neo4j as a company. One issue that stands out is the need for a clear strategic direction. There is a lack of understanding or agreement about the company's goals and priorities, leading to employees' confusion and uncertainty. Internal politics, gossip, and backstabbing are a problem at Neo4j; sometimes, it is even bullying. This creates a toxic work environment and makes it difficult for employees to feel valued and supported. One of the most frustrating aspects of the internal politics at Neo4j has been the need to "dumb me down" to avoid being perceived as a threat. I have always been a hardworking and ambitious employee. Still, expressing my ideas or trying to take on more responsibility can often be met with resistance or hostility from my colleagues. As a result, I have had to tone down my efforts to fit in and avoid causing any waves. It is demoralizing and has made me feel like I can't be myself or fully contribute to the company. It's a shame that petty politics and personal agendas should hold back such a talented and capable team. It's also worth noting that there is an issue with the company's ability to listen to and incorporate employee feedback. A well common theme among the reviews of Neo4j, and it's a concern because it can make employees feel unheard and undervalued. A foundation for further frustration and mistrust among employees is not being taken seriously. The suggestion that negative reviews are simply the result of "sour grapes" or an inability to adapt to change is dismissive and unhelpful. A company needs to take all feedback into account and strive to improve continually rather than dismiss valid concerns. Finally, there are concerns about the leadership at Neo4j, specifically the CEO's ability to steer the company effectively. It's clear that the CEO is friendly, but there are questions about whether he can effectively lead and make difficult decisions in the face of the increased pressure from the board and investors. While Neo4j has many strengths, it's clear that there are also some significant challenges that the company needs to address to create a positive and supportive work environment for all employees.

Pros

The culture is lived by all. Very open and inclusive. There is ample room for experimentation and taking your responsibility.

Cons

Although it is a scale up, there is still very much a start up mindset, which means that many decisions are made very quickly and without the long term goal in mind.
