Pros

Since working for NETbuilder, I have managed to build and work for an impressive and comprehensive spread of companies. In just over two years I have managed to work on projects for governments and major financial institutions. For me the key was the recognition that the management team gave to members of staff that pushed themselves, resulting in them rising rapidly within the company. The people that didn't have the ability didn't last long. This was a great start to my career, my time as a gateway consultant resulted in receiving multiple job offers. Ultimately I opted to take a senior management role within NETbuilder in the hope that my career will carry on with the same momentum.

Cons

The offices are not the best, little natural light, however once training is completed most of the work of the placements are off site and some of the buildings make me quite jealous I will not be working there instead. Since taking on my role as consulting manager, we have swapped over the training to rooms with more natural light. The training was hard as it is a mixture of classroom and self-learning and that isn't for everyone, taking the initiative was key. It is a steep learning curve, but nobody who has managed to complete the two years has regretted where it has got them to.

Pros

Netbuilder took me under their wing when I was trying to get a job in the IT industry with nothing but a little self-taught Java as my IT baggage. No-one else wanted to give me a chance, Netbuilder saw potential and trained me up. I got three weeks or so of training in Oracle Middleware (SOA) and five weeks in Adobe Flex before starting on a project for a huge multi-national banking corporation. As it turns out, Flex is very widely used in the finance industry, but because it's not particularly fashionable, most IT professionals have turned to other, more en-vogue technologies, leaving a gaping hole in the market for people like me to fill. So I get the best of all worlds: a leg-up into an IT career, and a niche market that other IT professionals are not interested in, with a consequently high demand rate and a starting salary to reflect that (check out Jobserve for salaries in SOA, Flex, SAP, CQ5, Documentum etc., all technologies that Netbuilder cater for.) I am now coming to the end of my contract with Netbuilder and am looking forward to a lucrative career in IT, which I could never have attained without them.

Cons

A very steep learning curve, and people who are not prepared to put in the effort can get left behind very quickly, but it is surely to be expected when there is such a wide gap between a beginner's skills (even a recent IT graduate's skills) and the kind of skills required from a junior, let alone a fully fledged consultant. On the other hand, everyone is so nice that there is always help at hand when needed.

Pros

None, it was the first place to offer me a job, but it was just a place on a training scheme

Cons

Paid £20 a day during training. The 'office' is an industrial unit without windows. Management lie to you with huge promises but they don't care about Grads they take on

Many thanks for your feedback, we value your opinion. We look to support Trainee Consultants going through the initial 12-week training with an allowance to help with relocation, accommodation and living costs. This should not be considered as part of company salary, which is offered once training has been successfully concluded. NETbuilder is prepared to make a significant investment in all Trainee Consultants, through the provision of market-leading technology training, but also in the continued development of each of our Consultants throughout the 2-year programme. In October, NETbuilder will take all Consultants that have been with the company for over a year to Palma, Mallorca for a Collaboration Weekend. The aim of this event is to share information, collaborate and feedback about how to improve the Academy for our Consultants and Clients. Best wishes NETbuilder
