Pros

The working hours are very flexible and the compensation is decent. The office location is right in the heart of Bath, a very pleasant city in which to live.

Cons

The management was poor during my time at Netcraft. I was left without proper work for weeks at a time, despite raising this with my line manager. The primarily perl codebase is in serious need of refactoring. Bonuses are partially awarded on a points system, in which points are gained by completing tasks. This system is very much open to abuse by the more greedy employees, who attempt to hoard the easier tasks.

Pros

Free lunch, relatively high salary for the location. Very sociable colleagues with lots of (unofficial) meals, pub nights etc. Relaxed atmosphere with flexible working hours.

Cons

Poor management with no structure in place. New employees are left to get on with it with little training. Large number of interns taken on each summer to relieve full time employees for holiday, however at one point more interns than full time staff, so quite challenging to deal with. Lots of old, unmaintainable code with little effort in the way of refactoring/improving the codebase. Very few "new projects" exist. Management and sales staff reap benefits and large bonuses from work done by developers - quite demoralising
